Dreamin’ On
Music & lyrics © 2022 by John R. Black
At night I lay here dreamin’
Wondering where I should be,
Telling myself I’m floating
Some lonely, silent sea
And the passage is long and weary,
And the nights are cold and dark;
Will I ever reach the shoreline
Before I break my heart?
And the wind keeps on blowin’
And the daylight never comes
I just keep on dreamin’, dreamin’ on.
At night I lay here dreamin’
Tomorrow’s finally here
And I’m straight, cold sober
No more dark nights to fear
And the passage is long and cheery;
I’m feeling more than fine.
I shook the pot and the whiskey,
Took the cobwebs from my mind.
And the wind still keeps on blowin’
And the daylight starts to come.
I just keep on dreamin’, dreamin’ on.
I’m no longer dreamin’
I am where I should be
Sailing along with my darlin’
On a drug-free, silk-smooth sea.
My life is peaceful and together
No passage do we fear
We can sail or walk these waters
Now our home is here.
And the wind keeps on blowin’
And the daylight never comes
I just keep on dreamin’, dreamin’ on.
The wind still keeps on blowin’
And the daylight’s here to stay
I just keep on dreamin’, dreamin’ on.
You just keep on dreamin, dreamin’ on.
We just keep on dreamin’ on.
